Authority metrics can compress a provider's link observations into a number. The compression makes comparison convenient while hiding important details about coverage, methodology and the underlying pages.
Identify the provider and scope
Record which service produced the metric, the exact domain or page it measured and the query date. A page-level metric and a domain-level metric are not interchangeable. Numbers from different providers should not be treated as one shared scale.
Inspect the underlying evidence
Look at the observed linking domains, target paths and context. A score can remain difficult to interpret without knowing whether the links are relevant, accessible and concentrated in a few sources.
Do not infer organic traffic or revenue from a score unless those quantities were separately measured.
Keep proprietary metrics separate from Google
These are not Google-issued ranking scores and do not guarantee search visibility. They also do not establish that a seller controls the domain or that its past content can be reused.
Use external access honestly
WebOneWord does not operate a backlink index and does not generate fake DA, PA or DR numbers. Its SEO research page directs users to independent services whose access and usage limits should be checked at the source.
A missing metric is preferable to a fabricated one. For an acquisition, use the number as a prompt to inspect evidence and compare alternatives, not as a substitute for rights review, current offer verification or a project-specific business case.
Sources and further verification
Policies and service conditions can change. Follow the primary source before a transaction or technical change.
