Payment completion and a successful operational handover are related but different milestones. Finish the acquisition with checks that show the name reached the correct account and can be maintained there.
Confirm the exact registration
Inspect the full spelling in the receiving registrar account. Compare the extension and any hyphen with the accepted agreement; do not rely on a display title or a copied marketplace image.
Review the registrant details that the account is authorized to manage, the expiry or renewal information and any remaining transfer restrictions. Public registration data is supporting evidence, not the only record of account control.
Test recovery before changing services
Check account recovery email, multifactor access and authorized administrators. Keep a recovery route outside the acquired domain until its email is reliably configured. Store purchase evidence in a location not dependent on the new website.
A shared password handed over by a seller is not a complete account-security plan. Use the receiving provider's legitimate account-transfer or asset-delivery process and remove obsolete access as appropriate.
Validate the service inventory
Compare nameservers and DNS records with the agreed plan. Test web addresses, email routing, verification TXT records and business subdomains individually. Preserve the previous zone information where the transfer included responsibility for continuity.
An empty homepage can be expected for a domain-only purchase. A missing mailbox may be unacceptable for an operating-business transfer. Acceptance should follow the actual asset scope, not a generic checklist.
Close the record
Retain the transaction reference, invoice, agreement and delivery confirmation. Note who owns future renewals and when that responsibility will be reviewed.
Use DNS Lookup for public technical observations and the registrar's own account interface for authorized control. Neither a DNS answer nor a source-attributed sale report proves that every contractual obligation has been fulfilled.
Sources and further verification
Policies and service conditions can change. Follow the primary source before a transaction or technical change.
