Begin with a use case
Define the kind of buyer and project the target name could realistically serve. A consumer product, developer tool and local professional service have different naming needs. List the target extension, language, word count and meaning before searching. This prevents a spectacular but unrelated sale from becoming the anchor for every later comparison.
Screen for structural similarity
Look at spelling, syllables, word order, abbreviations and extension. Same-extension names with similar length are a starting filter, not a conclusion. A familiar dictionary word may have different recall characteristics from an acronym. A two-word phrase can communicate a product directly while a single word may be more flexible. Keep these groups separate when the differences dominate the naming decision.
Trace every important price
Open the cited source and check the exact name, amount, currency and date label. A publication date is not necessarily the closing date. Confirm whether the report describes cash, installments, a package or a business sale. If the source is an unverified seller claim, preserve that qualification. A source link makes a record inspectable; it does not by itself make the transaction independently verified.
Use a comparison sheet
For each candidate, record the reason it is comparable and one reason it differs. Note commercial meaning, extension, buyer type when reported, date basis and evidence quality. Avoid calculating an average across incompatible currencies or deal structures. If only two weak records remain, state that the evidence is sparse instead of presenting a precise estimate.
Read WebOneWord comparables correctly
Our automatic comparison panel currently selects published records with the same extension and a character count within two of the target. It does not infer trademark clearance, buyer intent, traffic or a likely resale price. Use the panel to discover records to investigate. Read the methodology and the distinction between prices and values before drawing conclusions.
