Three numbers, three different questions
An asking price describes the amount a seller currently requests. A reported sale price describes a transaction that a source says occurred. An estimated value is an opinion produced using assumptions. None is interchangeable with the others. A domain advertised for a large amount has not necessarily attracted an offer, and a past transaction does not establish the price of a future resale.
Compare the complete package
Before comparing listings, record the currency, payment schedule, renewal fees, taxes and transfer terms. A monthly lease-to-own payment is not the full acquisition price. An auction bid can be below the reserve. A make-offer listing has no fixed acceptance price. When a source reports a business acquisition that includes a domain, avoid treating the whole acquisition price as a domain-only transaction.
Build an evidence range
Start with sales involving the same extension and a similar commercial use. Then compare word meaning, spelling, length and buyer relevance. A short brandable name and an exact service keyword can serve very different businesses despite sharing a character count. Write down why each comparable belongs in the group; remove records that are supported only by a superficial resemblance. A small transparent comparison is more informative than a large unexplained average.
Recognize the visibility limit
Public sales databases describe transactions that became visible to the publisher. They do not contain every completed sale, unsuccessful negotiation or expired listing. Large disclosed transactions can be unusually prominent. WebOneWord therefore describes its totals as recorded collection totals, not the size of the global market. Its score is a discovery informational and is never a monetary appraisal.
A useful research record
Keep the exact name, source URL, observation date, price type, currency and relevant conditions together. Recheck availability at the destination before taking action. If the current price cannot be confirmed, preserve the historical evidence and label current availability as unknown. Continue with our comparable-sales guide and the source-attributed sales archive.
